Solar Street Lights

Solar Street Lights

Solar street lights save energy, reduce costs and improve security. They are also environmentally friendly since they operate on clean solar power and emit no greenhouse gasses.

Unlike traditional electric-powered street lights, solar lighting relies on renewable sunlight to charge batteries for illumination at night. This makes it an attractive option for communities with limited grid power availability or those with high electricity costs.

Solar Panels

All-in-one solar LED street lights are a great off grid replacement for aging technology and fixtures. All necessary components (Gel Battery, Solar Panel, LED array) are enclosed in a single, easy to install maintenance-free unit. The units can be installed in local roads, walkways, pathways, parks, campuses, boardwalks and plazas.

Solar energy is absorbed by the solar panels during the day and converted to electricity to power the light at night. This eliminates the need for a power line to the luminary which is a safety hazard and expensive to trench in. Additionally, these lights can operate independently of the grid in case of brown or blackouts.

The solar panels can be installed on the ground or mounted on a pole. The pole can be either MS or GI and is anti corrosive. The battery is located either in the pole or in a separate UV protected battery box.

Solar powered lighting systems require minimal ongoing maintenance, have long lifespans and provide significant cost savings compared to traditional grid-powered street lights. They are also environmentally friendly, reduce light pollution and use renewable energy sources. This helps lower reliance on fossil fuels and greenhouse gases, combat climate change and protect wildlife habitats. They are also ideal for remote and off-grid areas where grid-powered street lights cannot be installed.

LED Lamps

In most of our solar LED street lights, the solar panel, LED lamp, battery and charge controller are integrated into a single unit. This simplifies installation and reduces costs by eliminating the need for extensive wiring. Additionally, it allows for consistent illuminance and uniformity across the illuminating area.

The LED lamps used in solar street lights use significantly less energy than traditional lighting bulbs, resulting in lower electricity bills and a reduced environmental footprint. They also have a longer lifespan and require minimal maintenance, further reducing energy usage and operational costs.

Smart charge controllers help prevent overcharging by monitoring voltage and ensuring the LED lights do not run at full brightness for extended periods of time. They also monitor SOLAR STREET LIGHT light level performance and send a report to the owner.

Most solar street lights feature motion sensors that detect movement and automatically turn on, improving security and lowering energy usage during times of inactivity. They can even be programmed to dim or increase in brightness during the day and/or night. Some models are designed to produce more blue or more red light at different points in the day, allowing them to better match our natural circadian rhythm. This helps to minimize health issues caused by bright white light, which interferes with our separated solar street light normal sleep/wake cycles. These benefits make all-in-one solar street lights an excellent choice for remote and off-grid locations where connecting to the power grid is expensive or impractical.

Batteries

Providing a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional street lighting, solar lights are powered by a battery that stores energy from the sun. Once the sun goes down, the light’s controller releases energy from the battery to turn on the LED lights. The entire system is housed in a light fixture that’s designed to blend in with the surrounding environment, so it won’t look out of place on any street or sidewalk.

The most important part of a solar street light is the batteries that store the energy that the solar panel generates during the day. The battery’s life cycle and capacity determine how long the light will stay on at night.

There are several different types of batteries that can be used in solar powered lights. Lithium ion batteries are one of the most popular options because they have a high energy density, meaning they can power the light for a longer period of time. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are another great option for solar powered lights because they offer a similar energy density to lithium ion but at a lower price.

Regardless of which type of battery is used, a little device called a photoresistor is what controls the circuit inside your solar fairy lights. During the day, the solar panel happily charges the batteries, but when it’s dark out the photoresistor turns on the lights like a tiny circuit overlord.

Controls

Depending on the quality and maintenance of the system, solar street lights can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years. This lifespan can be extended even further with proper care and regular cleaning of the system components.

The most important factor for a solar street light to function correctly is the sun’s energy harvesting capability. This is the amount of direct current (DC) power that can be converted by the photovoltaic cells in the PV panel into electrical energy.

A high-quality solar lighting system is able to maximize this energy generation by using a smart controller that is able to control the LED lamp brightness based on its capacity. Compared to traditional control methods, this method is more efficient and enables street lights to run for longer periods of time.

Some systems also feature off-grid capability, which makes them suitable for locations without a reliable electricity supply. All-in-One solar street lights are designed for simplified installation since they integrate all of the critical components into a single unit. This helps to reduce labor costs and minimize the need for extensive wiring. These lights also use more efficient LED lamps, which consume significantly less energy than traditional lights.
